Fantasy Football winners and losers after 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft has now finished, and as the 32 franchises start to reflect on the business done in the last few days, fantasy football managers will be looking at certain players very differently.

Some players have far more competition for snaps, while others have roles to themselves.

DAZN takes a look at three winners and losers post-NFL Draft.

Winner - Zamir White

Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White will have been sat at home nervously watching the NFL Draft.

White finished last season as the Raiders' first-choice back, and after Josh Jacobs left the franchise this offseason, he seemed set up to be the go-to back once more in 2024.

That was, unless the Raiders drafted a running back in the draft. And while they did in the form of Dylan Laube, they waited until the sixth round of the draft to do so.

The lack of priority given to drafting a running back appears to be a real vote of confidence for White, who could be set for his best season to date.

Winner - Zack Moss

Zack Moss' situation is very similar to that of Zamir White, expect for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Offseason signing Moss, who had the best season of his career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023, sits at the top of the Bengals' running back depth chart.

Like the Raiders, there was talk the Bengals could spend a high draft pick on a running back, instead Cincinnati did not draft any competition for Moss.

To make things even better, the Bengals did use picks to sure up their offensive line, which should benefit the running game.

Winner - Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray's improved fantasy football outlook can be summed up in three words - Marvin Harrison Jr.

With the fourth pick in the draft the Arizona Cardinals drafted the best wide receiver in the class.

Beforehand, Murray's pass-catching weapons were limited to impressive tight end Trey McBride and wide receivers like Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch.

Now, the Cardinals and Murray have a true alpha wide receiver, who should light up the NFL for years to come.

Loser - Kirk Cousins

Perhaps the biggest story of the 2024 NFL Draft  is the Atlanta Falcons' decision to draft quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth pick.

That pick has raised eyebrows across the league, as the Falcons spent this offseason acquiring former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins - who signed a huge four-year $100 million guaranteed contract.

Cousins will remain the starter for the Falcons, put the first-round pick of Penix means 35-year-old Cousins is far less likely to see out all four years of his contract.

Cousins is also coming off a season-ending Achilles tear, and if he cannot get up to speed quickly the chatter to start Penix will grow louder and louder.

Loser - Michael Mayer

The selection of Michael Penix Jr. was the biggest shock of the first round, but it was closely followed by the Las Vegas Raiders' decision to draft tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th pick of the draft.

Bowers is a talent, and could be one of the best tight ends in the NFL for many years, but just last year the Raiders used their second-round pick to draft Michael Mayer.

Mayer appeared to be locked in as the Raiders' top pass-catching tight end, but the selection of Bowers has seen his stock plummet.

Of course, the Raiders could look to use two tight end formations more frequently, but whichever way you look at it, this is bad news for Mayer.

Loser - De'Von Achane

De'Von Achane had an impressive rookie campaign in 2023, and showed flashes of brilliance, but things have not worked in his favour since the end of the season.

Raheem Mostert signed a new deal with the Miami Dolphins, and now the AFC East side used a fourth-round pick to select another speedster Jaylen Wright.

Achane missed time in 2023 due to three different injuries, and if Wright gets the chance to shine it could cut into Achane's already split workload.

It remains to see exactly how things with shake up in the Dolphins backfield in 2024, but signs are not positive for Achane.
