Who won the first Mikaela Mayer vs Sandy Ryan fight? How to watch the rematch tonight

Las Vegas hosts a world title rematch on tonight when Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan meet for the WBO women's welterweight title. 

The first contest, which took place at The Theater in Madison Square Garden, was an entertaining battle and one which was close to call. 

DAZN News recaps what transpired in the world title fight and how fight fans can watch tonight's rematch. 

Who won the first Mayer vs Ryan fight?

After winning the IBF and WBO world titles at super featherweight, Mayer was bidding to become a two weight world champion against WBO titleholder Ryan in New York last September. 

The fight night was overshadowed by an incident before the opening bell with Ryan being attacked whilst travelling to Madison Square Garden and being covered in red paint. Fingers were immediately pointed towards Mayer's team with accusations of foul play, but Ryan now had a world title defence to focus on. 

From round one, Mayer came out of her corner with urgency with her combinations causing early problems for the defending champion. 

Ryan looked to put Mayer on the backfoot in third, walking down the American and landing a right hand of her own. 

As the rounds ticked by, Ryan struggled to get a sustained period of success whilst Mayer on the other hand managed to keep up her high energy levels and use them to her advantage against a tiring Ryan. 

The fight went the full 10-round distance and it was Mayer who was declared the winner on a majority  decision. Two judges scored the fight 97-93 and 96-94 in favour of Mayer whilst the other judge scored the contest a 95-95 draw.

How to watch the Mayer vs Ryan rematch tonight

The rematch between Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan for the WBO women's welterweight title will take place tonight at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. 

The fight and the rest of the card will be broadcast on ESPN+ in the US (click here for more information) and Sky Sports in the UK. 

Live coverage will begin at 8pm ET / 12am GMT (Sunday) with the Mayer vs Ryan ringwalks scheduled for 11pm ET / 3am GMT (Sunday). These timings are subject to change.
