Oscar De La Hoya names the unified world champion who could be next for Oleksandr Usyk and it's not a heavyweight fighter

Is Oleksandr Usyk pondering a return to cruiserweight following his heavyweight title rematch with Tyson Fury on December 21?

Oscar De La Hoya certainly thinks so and he’s hopeful that Gilberto Ramirez will be in the opposite corner after his fighter defeated Chris Billam-Smith to unify two world titles.

Ramirez was in impressive form as he dominated the brave British fighter over the 12-round distance on the Latino Night show in Saudi Arabia.

The win is expected to be a platform for Ramirez to push and compete in bigger fights and a showdown with Usyk could be an option.

Usyk and Fury will once again head to the Middle East before the end of the year, live on DAZN , and the Ukrainian begins the fight a small favourite.

In their first meeting, Usyk overcome a tough start to take over in the second half of the fight where he forced Fury to take a standing count before winning on the scorecards.

The next move for Usyk after Fury is being speculated throughout boxing, but De La Hoya provided a fresh take at the press conference before Ramirez defeated Billam-Smith.

“I heard through the grapevine that a special world champion in the heavyweight division is considering moving down to fight the winner of Saturday’s fight,” said The Golden Boy when speaking to the media.

“So, Usyk is considering coming down to cruiserweight to fight the winner on Saturday night.”
