Eubank Jr vs Benn: Chris Eubank Jr lays down message for father amid family feud

Chris Eubank Jr has spoken of his desire to do his dad proud in Saturday’s mouthwatering showdown with Connor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both fighters’ fathers enjoyed a legendary rivalry in the ring during the early 1990s and their sons will meet this weekend to continue the Eubank-Benn feud, live on DAZN PPV.

Chris Eubank Sr emerged victorious against Nigel Benn in their first clash in 1990 before a contentious draw in the rematch three years later.

Despite Chris Sr's absence after condemning the fight as a “disgrace”, his son is determined to honour his legacy in front of a crowd of 60,000 on Saturday.

Eubank Jr said. live on DAZN at the Grand Arrivals on Tuesday: “I want to keep that Eubank name that little bit in front of the Benn name.

“Just a little; I'm not greedy, it doesn't have to be miles but we have to be on top.

“They cannot get a win over us. I have to respect my father's legacy, his history and what he achieved in his career.

“I can't let him down, I can't let myself down and I can't let my fans down.

“This is a deeply important and personal fight for me and I can't wait. I'm a complete fighter.

“I've been doing this for so long, I've forgotten more things than he knows and that will show on the night.

“This fight isn't about size or weight, it's about skill and dedication, it's about expertise and all of those areas I excel in.

“I have many years of experience over Conor Benn and that will be the deciding factor on the night.

“The procedure will be parliamentary, everything will go the way I want it to go, I will be like a matador in the ring and Conor Benn will be the bull.”

The rivals were scheduled to meet nearly three years ago, but the fight was cancelled because of Benn's adverse findings to a drugs test, which sent shockwaves through the sport.

It meant a delay to the start of the second generation of Benn-Eubank rivalry, following their fathers' iconic fights in the early 1990

Yet Benn is now raring to go and said: “It's always personal, every opponent I fight is personal, it's not business.

“I feel prepared. I’ve done everything I possibly can in the gym and left no stone unturned.”

“If you're trying to put your hands on me and render me unconscious, it's never business.

“This one just has a little more history to it. I badly want to get my hands on him.”
