Philadelphia Eagles NFL mock draft: Picks, predictions and key needs

The Eagles’ late-season collapse last year was somewhat remarkable. Stacked with talent and with just one defeat in their first 11 games, the team fell off a cliff as they lost five of their last six and went one-and-done in the playoffs.

After a busy free-agent period, the Eagles head to Detroit this weekend with a roster that’s in decent shape - albeit with a few positions to sort.

Here’s a closer look at the Eagles’ upcoming draft.

Philadelphia Eagles draft picks

  • No. 22 overall (first round)
  • No. 50 overall (second round) (from Saints)
  • No. 53 overall (second round)
  • No. 120 overall (fourth round) (from Pittsburgh, via LA Rams)
  • No. 161 overall (fifth round) (from Tampa Bay)
  • No. 171 overall (fifth round) (compensatory)
  • No. 172 overall (fifth round) (compensatory)
  • No. 210 overall (sixth round) (compensatory)

Key Needs

Jason Kelce’s retirement means Cam Jurgens moves to centre from right guard, creating a need there, while a rookie receiver would be a decent investment, given the age and contact status of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

A cornerback is probably their biggest need however, given the issues the Eagles had in their secondary during last year’s slump. More depth at linebacker wouldn’t go amiss, either.

Predictions

The Eagles have the number 22 pick in Thursday’s first round and should be able to land one of the best corners in the draft. Quinyon Mitchell is a good shout in that spot.

The offensive line can then be addressed in the second round, with Kiran Amegadjie or Zak Zinter potential options here. Day three picks, including their slew of compensatory selections, can see them look closely at wide receivers.
