'I'm relieved to finally close this chapter!' - Conor Benn reveals cleared name over doping claims after two-year saga

Conor Benn is "relieved to finally close this chapter" after he revealed he has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an adverse finding in a 2022 drugs test.

The Briton looks set to return to the ring once more in 2025 after a two-year saga that saw him face serious scrutiny ahead of what was supposed to be the biggest fight of his career.

The findings came on the eve of a bout with Chris Eubank Jr. that was shelved at short notice in October 2022, with Benn suspended by the UK Anti-Doping Agency in March 2023.

The National Anti-Doping Panel lifted his suspension just four months later, paving the way for Benn to contest fights with Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson.

Appeals from UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control have subsequently been drawn out over the past year, but now the 28-year-old says he is free to resume his career.

"I am thankful that after an incredibly challenging [two] years, the National Anti-Doping Panel has today finally cleared me of any wrongdoing," Benn wrote on X.

"This past 24 months has unquestionably been the toughest of my life. I would like to thank my fans that have stood by me.

"Your support has never and will never go unnoticed. I'm relieved to finally close this chapter and am excited to get back in the ring to realise my ultimate potential."

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, who promotes Benn, also added his delight on social media and promised "one hell of a comeback" for the welterweight star.
