Vasiliy Lomachenko makes shock revelation ahead of Devin Haney undisputed clash

Vasiliy Lomachenko has revealed that he was contemplating a move back to super featherweight after losing his undisputed lightweight title to Teofimo Lopez in October 2020.

Lomachenko returns to action this weekend when he takes on undisputed lightweight title holder Devin Haney live on ESPN+ PPV.

Following the loss to Lopez, the Ukrainian thought about returning to the 130lb division, but instead wanted to re-establish himself as the best operator at lightweight.

“After the Lopez loss, I could have gone down (in weight) and fight,” Lomachenko said during the first part of ESPN’s Blood, Sweat & Tears: Haney vs. Lomachenko.

“But I can’t because I lose at lightweight. Lightweight took my dream, took my goal. I can’t change.

“For me, it looks like you’re weak.

"I still have my speed, my power, my conditioning. I was very close with this goal. Now I have a second chance. But I have a second chance with a different man.”
