England vs. France: Time, TV channel, preview and how to watch FIFA World Cup quarterfinal match

Familiar foes clash in the quarterfinals of the World Cup as England take on France at the Al Bayt Stadium.

The teams each won their groups as expected, although both sides hit minor stumbling blocks before they reached the knockouts. England failed to score against the United States in a 0-0 draw that was bookended by comprehensive victories, although the USA draw was the only disappointing result in a tournament that has gone very well for the Three Lions thus far.

As for France, they cruised throught their first two matches and suffered a shock defeat to Tunisia to close the group stage, but that loss came with a heaily rotated squad as Les Bleus looked to give many of their stars some valuable rest. That strategy paid off as France eased past Poland, 3-1, in the round of 16, setting up this match against their neighbours.

A 60,000-seat venue in Al Khor, the Al Bayt Stadium features a retractable roof and will be reduced in size by nearly half of its seating capacity after the World Cup.

Completed in November 2021, the stadium was used for the opening ceremony of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. It also hosted five matches during that tournament, including the final.

At Qatar 2022, the stadium will host six group stage matches and three knockout games, including a semi-final.
