Former Premier League midfielder outlines issues behind Manchester City's slump in form

Manchester City head into this weekend's crunch game with league leaders Liverpool in uncharted territory, without a victory in their last six games.

It's the worst run of Pep Guardiola's managerial career, with the latest setback coming midweek when City let slip a comfortable 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feryernoord in the Champions League.

The toil on the display was visible across Guardiola's face as the Spanish boss looked for solutions to the club's poor form.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O'Hara believes it's down to the City team reaching the end of their cycle, and an overhaul could be needed next summer.

“Manchester City’s squad has aged and d they’ve got quite a few players who don’t look the same as they used to,” he said

"Has Kevin De Bruyne lost his invincibility? When he comes on the pitch, he doesn’t look as sharp as he once was. Kyle Walker is getting exposed more often, which never used to happen. Timo Werner had the beating of him.

“I’m watching them play without Rodri, and they’re not going to find a player who can make that kind of difference. Manchester City are going through a tough period, and teams go through that. They’ve found it hard, but let’s not forget they won four Premier League titles in a row, with many of the same players.

“You’ve got to give Pep Guardiola and Manchester City credit where it’s due—they’ve been one of the best teams ever. I think they may just need a bit of time to regroup, and they’ll need some fresh faces in the dressing room. Pep is going to have to build a new team, but he’s done it before."
